Essay on Visit To Historical Places

Essay  ~ ~ Visit To Historical Places

 Definition:
Historical Places are character of history based on or concerned with events in history.
The word “visit” has of meanings. The first thought that fun sometimes, this reminds us some pleasant moments of glories poet. I also have some precious memories of my visit to the historical city “Lahore”.
Lahore is full of historical buildings. There is no exaggeration to say that Lahore itself is a historical city. Everybody who visit Lahore must go to visit historical buildings. They show us the picture of the past and the achievements of our great forefathers. Last Friday we chalked out a program for outing. I had not seen the tomb of Jahangir. So all agreed that this historical place should be visited. In no time we reached there by bus. The grand tomb of Jahangir was before our eyes. Every body was happy to see it. It looked beautiful I could not believe that it was so grand.
Jahangir's Tomb is at Shahdara. Shahdara is four miles away from Lahore. On the other bank of the River Ravi. The four tall minerates of the tomb can be seen from a distance. The mausoleum is in a park enclosed by a high wall. There is a magnificent gateway which is guarded by a walled quadrangle. The park appeared to be well kept. The seasonal flowers were in all their glory. There were mange groves here and there spreading in cool shade. A fountain in front of the mausoleum was sending forth a cool shower of water. It was presenting a beautiful scene. It filled our hearts with pleasure. For sometime we were lost in thoughts. It looked another world. Cool breeze was blowing.
After it we reached the tomb itself. It is a low large an beautiful edifice. In an inner room sleeps the Great Mughal Emperor. Nothing to disturb him now. The walls of his room have curious and colored designs on them. The huge mausoleum has a vast terrace. In each corner a minaret soars up in the sky. I went up and from the platform of the minaret saw the city of Lahore looked splendid. Man does not believe in his eyes. Everything looked so attractive and so charming.
We kept on moving about for quite a while. We sat in the grassy lawn for sometime. When It was evening time the light began to fade. The silence and peace affected us strangely. Our minds were full of solemn thoughts and colorful memories. In the twilight it appeared to us as if we were in a fairy land. The whole scene was presenting a beautiful picture. We were much impressed by the scene. It was time to go back. We did not feel like coming back but we had to. We came back tired but happy.

Essay on Picnic Party

Essay ~ ~ Picnic Party

 Definition:
Picnic formally an entertainment at which each person contributed some dishes to a common table; now an excursion or pleasure party in which partake of collation or repast usually in open air.
Every body needs rest and entertainment after working hard for many days. The picnics can provide us this much needed leisure. They add char to our otherwise dull and boring life. They refresh our tires nerves and mind. Picnics and outing are a part and parcel of the life of students. These are arranged by the school authorities off and on.
There are so many picnic points in and around Lahore. Generally people go out for picnic during the winter season or rainy season. These picnics are very essential for our life. Especially these are necessary for the people living in big cities because they can get a respite from their busy life which is full of hustle and bustle.
Last week the principle of our school decided to take the students of 10th class to Jallo Park for a picnic. For this purpose Sunday was fixed as on that day there is a lot of hustle and bustle at Jallo Park. Our class teacher Mr. Ali also agreed to accompany us. The students paid Rs. 50 each towards bus charges and light refreshment which was to be provided by the school.
Two buses were arranged for this purpose. Every student was required to take his own lunch packet with him. All the students reached the school on the appointed day at about 8:30 a.m. The buses also arrived in time. We had arranged for deluxe buses which were very comfortable. Many students arrived with transistors cameras and tape recorders. All the students were dressed very smartly in their shirts or gay dresses.
Our principal and the class teacher arrived at exact 9:00 a.m. All the students boarded the buses and we started at 9:15 a.m. When the buses moved the students started singing in a chorus. They clapped sang and dance collectively. Within twenty five minute we reached the picnic spot. It was winter season. Many other schools had also organized their picnics to Jallo Park on that day.
The scene at Jallo looked just a big fair. There were hundreds of students and other persons who had come there to enjoy a picnic. We selected a place near the Jallo Lake and spread a big carpet there. We placed our lunch boxes there and went around the park in groups.
At 12:30 p.m. we all came back and assembled for our lunch. We were feeling quite hungry. We opened our lunch packets and shared our meals with one another. After that we started a program of music. Some students gave us good songs and ghazals. Many other on looked also gathered around us and enjoyed the music. Some students entertained us with tit bits and jokes.
After this we took some rest and again dispersed for enjoying ourselves. Some students went out for boating. Those students who had brought with them transistors and tape recorders started listening to music and dancing. Still others with cameras started taking photographs. At 4:00 p.m. we again gathered at the oppointed place. Now we were served with light refreshment by our school authorities which consists of tea biscuits ets. The time passed quickly. Ultimately we started for our home journey at 5:30 p.m.

My Hobby

Essay ~ ~  My Hobby

Definition:
Hobby is an activity that one does at spare time for the sake of delight, pleasure and recreation.
Routine work of every day makes us monotonous. To break it we often look for interesting and exciting things to do. Hobbies are the best way to divert attention side by side with work. We need entertainment from time to time. At such times a good hobby is very useful. Hobbies provide recreation. They entertain us and at the same time are valuable in the sense that they develop personality.
My hobby is singing. People often resort to gardening, reading, stamp collecting, bird watching, etc. However I love to listen to music and also to sing. I have a large collection of tapes and I listen to all kinds of music.
My collection ranges from classical music to Rock and from Indian music to Western one. My hobby is to listen to these songs carefully and then to learn them. I sit with a paper and a pen and write down the lyrics of the songs that I hear.
Then I hum along and soon I know the tunes too. I switch the tape recorder off and then I pretend to be the singer myself. I sing the song exactly the way it was sung by the playback singer. I succeed at times and sometimes fail Once I feel that I have begun to sing perfectly I tape my own voice. When I listen to the recording I listen objectively and try to locate my faults in singing. This helps me to improve on my singing and I find that also helps me to use my talent to advantage.
Whenever I go to a party, my friends persuade me to sing. Once I begin, the party livens up, people join in and the place is filled with the sound of music. I feel proud of myself and my friend also praise me because they feel that I become the life of the party. I play the guitar and sing when we go on a picnic or when I have a free period in school. My hobby makes me happy and also brings joy to all my relatives and friends.
It is necessary that everybody must have some hobby. It educates man, gives him pleasure, and helps him to utilize his free time fruitfully. If a person has no hobby, his spare time will turn him into a useless, irritated and restless person. "An idle mind is a devil's workshop". It is, therefore, essential to remain busy even in leisure hours. Hobbies always come to one's help.

Science In the Service Of Mankind

Essay ~ ~ Science In the Service Of Mankind

Definition:
Systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation.
In its broadest meaning of 'knowledge', science enters the life of even the most primitive human being, who knows the safe from the poisonous berry, who has stored up some rudimentary ideas about building a hut, sharpening a spear, and fishing in the river. this knowledge, or accumulation of experience, distinguishes man from the animal which has to rely on instinct.
Yet, for most people 'science' means a number of abstract subject such as physics, chemistry, biology and mechanics, to quote a few, which have to be learnt as part of 'education', yet which seem to have little bearing on everyday living. How wrong this is. Our way o life is completely dependent on science and its fruits surround us on all sides.
Today, there is available an enormous range of consumer goods from the simple frying-pan to the jet plane, from the alarm-clock to the computer. All these things serve to make life easier and more pleasant, yet in themselves do not constitute civilization -- merely its comfortable adjuncts. Progress in real living is achieved less through 'things' than through education, the arts and the love of beauty. Science has nothing to say to us in these categories, merely providing aids and short-cuts. Without them, life would be no more than the struggle for survival; there would be no time or incentive to pursue higher things.

Science gives us safe food, free from harmful bacteria, in clean containers or hygienic tins. It also teaches us to eat properly, indicating a diet balanced in protein and carbohydrate and containing vitamins. The results is freedom from disease and prolonged life. In pre-scientific days, food was monotonous and sometimes dangerous; today it is safe and varied. It is varied because through improved sea, land and air transport food can now be freely imported and exported. Science has also improved clothing and made it more appropriate for climatic and working conditions. Man-made fibers and versatile spinning machines, today enable us to dress in clothes both comfortable and smart without being expensive.

Home, school and office all bear witness to the progress and application of science. Nowadays, most homes possess electric lighting and cooking, but many also have washing machines, vacuum cleaners and kitchen appliances, all designed to increase comfort and cleanliness and reduce drudgery. Science produces the fan which cools the air, the machinery which makes the furniture and fabrics, and hundred and one other features for good living. The books and papers are at school, and again everything from the piece of chalk to the closed-circuit television of instruction are the direct or indirect results of scientific progress. Learning is therefore easier. And clerical work is made far more speedy and efficient by the office typewriter, quite apart from the hundreds of different machines which relieve the manual worker of so much slow and monotonous toil in the factories.

In the old days, the idea of travel or taking a holiday was the monopoly of the privileged few. Today, science has given us the steamer, the aircraft and the motor-car. New horizons are opened to us and the increase of wealth brought about by science has given us the means to enjoy the new leisure we have been given. But to enjoy life at all, we must be healthy and it is perhaps in the sphere of medicine that some of the greatest advances have been made. Today, because of the use of antibiotic and isotopes, many diseases are speedily cured and man has become, on the whole, a healthier being, set free from pain and illness.

Science has been completely beneficial to ordinary living when properly applied. When misused, it is equally harmful. Land can be poisoned by chemicals, workers can suffer industrial disease, war can mobilize science to man's own destruction. Science is a good servant, but man must remain master.

Essay on Courtesy

Essay ~ ~ Courtesy

Definition:
The showing of politeness in one's attitude and behavior toward others.
Courtesy means exellence of manners or polite behaviour. It, of course springs from good breeding and kindness of heart. A courteous man is pleasant and polite to everybody. He observes good manner on all occations and always respects the feelings of others.
Moral norms and ethical values from the basis of the teachings of all religions of the world. It would be right to say that only by following these norms and values the foundations of modern civilization and culture were laid. These are the principles that distinguish man from animal. Man the crown of all the creatures of God, is endowd with moral sense that enabke him to establish amiable and pleasant relations with his fellowmen based on mutual respect. He has the capability to differebtiate betweeb good and evil. Courtesy, infact, is the practical expression of this capability.
The encyclopedia Britannica defines it as respect for and consideration of others. It includes such virtues as generosity, co-operation, forgiveness, humility, honesty in dealing, thankfulness, unselfishness and faithfulness in agreements. These are the virtues that regulate our relations not only with our near and dear ones but also with our foes and friends making our life full of peace and pleasure. Without these virtues life is vicious and venemous. It is because of this that God has again and again enjoined upon us to be humble and courteous to others. In the Holy Quran He says,
Our Holy Prophet(SAWW) was the best behaved of all people. He (SAW) always talked softly and politely and never indulged in loose talk. He used to say,
"The best of you are those who have the best character"
Those who are impolite rude and imperious are despised by all. Nobody loves or respects them and thus they are left alone, helpless, and friendless. Life without the angelic feeling of love, respect, kindness and politeness is like a hell where the fire of contempt, rudeness, envy and cruelty burns our minds, bodies and souls. Let us be courteous to all. Let us love and resoect one another. Let our hearts be filled with the milk of human kindness, so that this earthly planet may one day become an earhly paradise.
In short, courtesy really makes everyday life more pleasant, more friendly and more meaningful.

Essay on Pollution

 Essay  ~ ~   Pollution

Definition:
The presence in or introduction into the environment of substance or things that has harmful or piousness effects. OR The contamination of air, water or soil that has harmful or piousness effects.
The amount of air pollution in Pakistan's major cities like Lahore and Karachi is 20 times higher than the World Health Organization standards. There are layers of smog, dust and smoke that exist over Karachi. There is also a prominent smell of gasoline that infiltrates air. Islamabad which is the capital city of Pakistan is known to be covered with thick layer smog that actually keeps hidden the view of Margalla hills.
So pollution is very prominent and exists to a threatening level in Pakistan. It comes from cars, factories and other such sources and Pakistanis are daily breathing polluted air. It is unfortunate that only a couple of people actually are aware of the depth of its effects on their and their children's health. Pollution is known to cause coughing, sore throats and nasal discharge. In extreme cases it can also lead to asthma, tumors, lung damage and death. The first step to avoid pollution is to educate Pakistanis about pollution, its description, its causes, its effects and ways to control it.

Now ways to control pollution is to firstly read up all you can about pollution, the internet is a great source of information. There are many environmental organizations as well that have informative websites on ecology and pollution. Try and find as much as you can online and search for articles that explain pollution in a straightforward manner. Those organizations that are not on the web try and find out if they have pamphlets about pollution and its effects and what citizens can do about it. After gathering all the information and compiling it, try and get it translated in Urdu, make sure there are no copyright issues. Try and get a professional translator if you can. The next step is printing; this would require some funding, if funding is too expensive then try and get donations.
Afterwards distribute the work amongst family and friends, give it to a couple of newspapers, so it can be published and could benefit the masses. Also in order to help schools teach about pollution, you could visit these schools see how children are taught and provide teachers with your work to help them have better material. Another way to help is by writing or developing articles to give to the visitors coming into Pakistan, the topic of these articles would be how a visitor to the country can keep him or herself healthy from the effects of pollution when he visits.
Creating a website about pollution is also another magnificent way to educate others about the topic. It will be of use to Pakistanis all around the globe, it even may encourage others to do something about pollution and fight it. The website could also comprise of translated pamphlets, information about what people can do about pollution in Pakistan and other such information. You can also include links to other sites that talk about that topic.
Then last step is trying to reach those organizations in Pakistan that are known to be number one polluters. Start a campaign in newspapers and on your websites which tries and makes them accountable for their acts. By exposing them you could motivate them to take up certain measures. But make sure you also take steps to appreciate the industries that are making an effort to keep the environment clean.

Types of pollution: 1. Light Pollution 2. Noise Pollution 3.Thermal Pollution 4. Land Pollution 5. Air Pollution 6.Water Pollution 7.Chemical Pollution 8.Acid Rain 9. Radioactivity 10.Mental Pollution
